New In - Feb 23

Moving into the month of February, let's get into our next set of recommendations. Some for now and others for forward planning purposes; a conscious unisex salon, a different approach to a footballing podcast and a low-key photography exhibition.

Another Aspect @ Møntergade 5a

As one door shuts, another door opens. Another Aspect is closing up its original store but in the interim between launching a new, larger venue, the Copenhagen-based menswear brand is hosting a short-stay pop-up on Møntergade 5a that runs until the end of February. Their core values centre around clothing built on longevity, making considered purchases and a modern customer experience.

Eugene Schlumberger @ Pop Recs

For the shorter month of Feb, we’ll treat you with a double rec. Exhibited at Pop Recs in Sunderland, photographer Eugene Schlumberger captures northern, modernist architecture and his work will be on show from February 16th and running for the next few months. While you’re there, you have to try the cafe’s veggie roast on a Sunday - they take bookings via. Instagram. They’re dog friendly and it’s run by a top-notch team.

The Neighbours’ Window

The Academy Award-winning short film tells the story of a mother who finds herself increasingly frustrated by the mundane day-to-day routines of life. A young couple moves in next door and alongside her partner, they discover that everything is visible from their window. They end up living vicariously through their new neighbours, building a false narrative. Featuring: Maria Dizzia (Martha Marcy May Marlene, Orange Is The New Black, The Staircase).

Clod Ensemble

Sign onto Morning Movement with Clod Ensemble led by Monique Jonas. The interdisciplinary performance charity is providing two online sessions with the dancer and choreographer on the 6th & 13th of March (9.00 - 9.30) but there’s more to choose from in the wider series. It compasses breathwork with something a little more physical - a unique kickstart to your day. And it’s free!

NPLH in conversation with…

No Place Like Home is a football magazine and collaboration between writers, photographers and creatives with a love for the game. We recently found ourselves taking a deep dive into their ‘in conversation with’ podcast which explores untold stories, grassroots level organisations committed to positive change and making one of the most popular sports accessible to all.

The Menu

Where black comedy meets horror, the film takes place in an exclusive restaurant on a private island. Handpicked guests from wealthy food critics to high-profile business partners are invited to dine through a series of tasting dishes, presented by a cult of chefs. What starts off as a seemingly elegant evening meal, takes a sinister turn with each course. Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult lead the stellar cast and Disney+ is where you can watch.

A calm retreat in bustling London, the space also houses a shop supporting independent businesses across lifestyle and wellness products. For those not in the area, their online store is great too.

Their first feature film ‘Am I Okay?’ directed by comedian Tig Notaro premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and they share film, TV, literature, art and music recommendations on their Instagram while collaborating with other brands to tap into their taste buds.
